FD Tennis Director and Head Coach, Alexei Demajo has just returned from an overseas professional development trip to the United States with Tennis Australia.
The trip started in North Carolina, where they visited a number of world-class tennis facilities, including Prestonwood Country Club and Wimbledon Tennis Club. The group also spent time at Duke University, gaining an incredible insight into the Men’s and Women’s programs and touring their facilities.
On Day 4, the group visited Cameron Moore’s High Performance Tennis Academy followed by a tour of the Cary Tennis Park which is one of the biggest public tennis facilities in the US.
The next day, the team visited North Hill Country Club and had a meeting with fellow US tennis professionals and North Hills CC coaches and directors which was an incredible opportunity. The group also had the chance to view their amazing pickleball facility and play a game of Padel!
Day 6, the group headed back to North Hills Country Club for a great workshop presented by Australian Coach, Darryl Lewis. Darryl also demonstrated to the coaches how to deliver a Pickleball session.
The group attended the Winston Salem Open, an ATP 250 event, which is the final men’s tournament prior to the US Open.
After their time in North Carolina, the group went to New York ticking off some serious bucket list items, as well as meeting with and learning with innovators within the Tennis industry.
Alexei was lucky enough to attend the US Open, witnessing some incredible live tennis as well as meeting some of Australian Tennis’ finest.
The group were also able to visit John McEnroe’s Tennis Academy at Sport Time New York City. This was a great opportunity to learn from a program that works with some of the best junior tennis players, helping them make the most of their tennis abilities while also supporting their academic pursuits.
The group also visited Court 16 Tennis, which offers private and group ball machine training with their state-of-the-art Playmate Ball Machine. This innovative technology takes place on 28’ and 44’ courts and replicates the ball trajectory of a full-sized court.
